Ibn 'Arabi Society USA, January Workshops

Arabesque

The Ibn 'Arabi Society is very pleased to announce that Richard and Cecilia Twinch from the UK Ibn 'Arabi Society in Oxford will be presenting a series of half-day seminars and lectures for our West Coast members and supporters

The workshops will be held in two locations, in Southern California in the Ojai valley 1 hour north of Los Angeles, and in Northern California in the Bay Area county of Marin.

Registration for these half-day events is now open.

Self-knowledge and the spiritual path

Cecilia
“My journey was only in myself and it was to myself that I had been guided”

- Ibn ‘Arabi

During this half-day seminar Cecilia Twinch will explore the concept and experience of self knowledge according to Ibn ‘Arabi, using quotations and stories from his works including her newly published translation of: Know Yourself – An explanation of the oneness of being.

A book signing will follow Cecilia's workshop, during the break - read on for further details of the book.

The Pattern of Meaning

Richard
"The human being is to Reality as the pupil is to the eye”

- Ibn ‘Arabi

In this illustrated talk Richard Twinch will examine the huge leaps which have been made in the past half century in scientific developments and technologies that are intrinsic to the way we live now. Understanding these require a perspective which steps beyond the strictly scientific method into the arena of metaphysics and mysticism and connects the world ‘out there’ to that of  ‘in here’. This is the perspective from which Ibn ‘Arabi writes. This talk correlates Ibn ‘Arabi’s ideas with those of modern scientists such as Einstein, Carl Sagan, Richard Feynman and John Wheeler.
